New Service to Antalya

Exciting news for travellers from the UK to Antalya, British Airways have announced that they will operate flights from Gatwick to Antalya with three flights per week to Antalya from April 10, 2008. This is exciting news for the region that has already seen an increase of 25% in tourist numbers since last year. Foreign Home Owners

Turkey now has almost 70,000 overseas property owners, new figures have revealed. The most popular destination was Antalya-Alanya, with 17,668 investors. Istanbul was next popular, followed by Mugla, Avdin and Bursa, reported the Turkish Land Registry Directorate. Buyers from the UK, Greece and Germany accounted for two-thirds of buyers

Christian Church

Good news for Christians in Alanya.  The ancient church at castle hill will be restored by Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and will not be used only as a church but  also as a centre of culture.  According to Mayor Hasan Sipahiolu, restoring work shall be finished in 2008. For a long time now The association of church "Santa Claus" is looking for an adequate room to use for divine service and pastoral care.  Some of German Christians expected the municipality of Alanya to build a church as there were lots of mosques in Germany. It should be mentioned that mosques in Germany, as in Turkey, are financed privately. Pastor Joachim Kush, who serves in Alanya was happy about this good news and gave thanks in the name of all Christians in Alanya to municipality and Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Volley Ball

European Volleyball-Federation gave the holding of competition in Beach-Volleyball to Alanya for the next 30 years.

On the backside of the Public Egemenlik Stadium upon a ground of 6 hectare land a European-Beach-Volleyball-Training Centre will become developed. In this training camp also sports halls will be constructed for indoor-volleyball-competitions and training. According to the member of city council Hilmi Tokus this camp will increase the degree of Alanya's popularity. Beach-Volleyball is on of the favoured sports after football in the world.

Volleyball was invented by American William Morgan in USA and entered as "Mintonette" sports-lessons for the youth. 1930 Beach-Volleyball came up and first competition occurred 1948. Volleyball-Federation compiled the first list for world cup in 1987 an in 1996 Beach-Volleyball took part first time at Olympic Games. 1996 the holding of finale in Beach-Volleyball-World cup occurred in Alanya.
